This Privacy Policy explains how Khatim ("Khatim", "we", "us"), available at khatim.us, collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the app. By using Khatim, you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign up with email or Google, our authentication provider (Supabase) stores your email address and a unique account identifier. If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic profile (name and email) from that provider — we never receive your password.
- Profile. A display name, and an optional per-group alias you choose if you'd rather your real name isn't shown to other members of a group.
- Reading activity. The groups you join, the pages you claim, complete, or release, and the time you spend reading pages in the in-app reader (measured only while the reader is open and active).
- Technical data. Session cookies needed to keep you signed in, and standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) kept by our hosting and database providers for security and reliability.
How we use your information
- To provide and operate the app — accounts, groups, and page tracking.
- To show group progress and reading statistics to you and your group.
- To produce aggregate analytics for the app administrator (for example, total pages read, number of readers, and reading time across all groups). These are summary figures, not a feed of your individual activity.
- To keep the service secure and to diagnose problems.
What other members can see
Within a group, other members can see your in-group display name (your alias if you set one, otherwise your profile name) and your page activity in that group — which pages you've claimed and completed. Your email address is never shown to other members.
Cookies
We use cookies only to keep you signed in and to operate the app. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of processors to run Khatim. Your data may be stored or processed by them:
- Supabase — authentication and database.
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with it.
Scanned mushaf page images are loaded from a third-party source (kuran.hayrat.com.tr). We do not send your personal information to that source.
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising. We share data only with the processors above to run the service, or when required by law.
Data retention and deletion
- We keep your data while your account and group memberships are active.
- If you leave a group (or a group owner removes you), your page claims in that group are released.
- If a group is deleted, its detailed page data is removed. Anonymous, aggregate totals about that group may be retained for the administrator's statistics.
- You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. To make a request, use the contact option in the app, or reach out to your group owner.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including access controls at the database level. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Khatim is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above when we do, and material changes will be reflected here.
